In April 2009, the Washington State Elementary Chess Championship came to Spokane for the first time. 1061 competitors battled in Hall A of the Group Health Exhibit Halls, Spokane Convention Center. They came from across all of Washington state, bringing coaches, families, and more than one hundred volunteers. The annual tournament is the largest chess event in Washington State. During a time when we find it hard to unplug our children from their electronics, chess enthusiasm and participation flourishes. The size of this annual competition has doubled in the past ten years. Thank you to all of our sponsors. You contributed mightily to the success of the event.
Our vendors help make it all happen -- please support them to make this tournament successful.
